Data protection declaration

Personal data demands special protection: AWA FOREIGN TRADE ACADEMY, Königsstraße 46, 48143 Münster attaches great importance to the protection of personal data, not least because it ensures the degree of transparency required by Art. 13 and 14 GDPR. This applies to all of AWA’s business processes.

The purpose of this document is to inform you what data we save when you visit our website and how we use it. 

Technical data we collect

When you visit our website, access data is automatically saved and evaluated by AWA's web servers. However, because it cannot be attributed to a specific person, the user remains anonymous. With the exception of the information you enter on our website (in registration forms etc.), we only save the data that your browser automatically transmits to us, such as:

  • time and date of user access 
  • browser type
  • browser settings
  • user operating system 
  • last page visited
  • data volume and access status (file transferred, file not found, etc.)
  • user IP address

We use this data to facilitate the use of our website, improve the user experience and collect statistical information. We do not use data to identify users. 

Cookies

In order to be able to guarantee the functioning of our website, we use cookies - small text files that are stored on your end device. Some of these cookies are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies), others remain on your device so that we can recognise it on your next visit.

You can use the settings of your browser to determine whether you wish to be informed about the setting of cookies and whether you wish to confirm or reject the setting of cookies in individual cases. You can also generally prohibit the setting of cookies. Unfortunately, this may result in functional restrictions on the website.

On our website we use so-called first-party cookies. These are cookies that can only be created and viewed by the website operator. The data will not be passed on to third parties. These cookies are necessary for the functioning of the website, i.e. they are required for logging into a customer account or for registering for a seminar or other AWA services.

We also use cookies to optimize our website offers.

Personal Information

We only process the personal data you send us or which is generally available. This includes data from public directories (e.g. exhibitor directories at trade fairs) or the public directories of industrial sectors related to foreign trade.

The personal data in question mainly consists of contact information, passwords for online registrations, contractual data and seminar organisation (e.g. information on food allergies), which you send yourself. By informing us of food allergies, we are able to organise your lunch accordingly.

Webinar

We use the tool  "Zoom Video Webinar" to present webinars. "Zoom" is a service provided by Zoom Video Communications, Inc., which is based in the United States. Different types of data are processed when using "Zoom". Further privacy can be found here.

Contact form

You can contact us using the form on our website. If you do so, the information you enter will be sent to us and saved.
  
By sending this contact form you consent to data processing. We save the personal data you send by e-mail but do not forward it to third parties. We will only use the data to process your enquiry.

We process personal data entered in online forms for contact purposes only. We process other personal data collected during the transmission process to prevent any abuse of the contact and ensure the security of our IT systems.

The legal basis for data processing is provided by Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR together with the user’s consent. The legal basis for processing data sent by email is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. If contact is made by email with the aim of concluding a contract then Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR provides an additional legal basis for data processing.

You can withdraw your consent at any time using the email address provided.

Use of personal data for information and other purposes

AWA processes and uses the personal data collected when you visit our website in accordance with the applicable laws and solely for the purposes stated in this data protection policy. If you register for a course or request information on AWA’s offers, we will use the data to deliver and bill for our services. If you are already a customer, we will also inform you about similar services that we and our partner companies offer by post and email. We only collect and use personal data if it is necessary to protect AWA’s legitimate business interests.
 
If you have registered for our newsletter online or by email (studium@awa-seminare.de), we will save and use this data to inform you of similar services that we or our partner companies offer. AWA will not pass on your personal data to third parties without your consent.

We retain control over the personal data you send us and assume responsibility for its use. You can object to its use at any time with immediate effect by notifying us or the Data Protection Officer by email (see imprint for details).

Data security

The data you send to AWA is covered by appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect your data against accidental or deliberate manipulation, loss, destruction, access by unauthorised persons or unauthorised disclosure to third parties. We continuously monitor and improve our security measures in accordance with technological and organisational developments.

Withdrawal of consent and further information

You can withdraw your consent to the saving and use of your personal data at any time with immediate effect.

You have the right to obtain information about the data we collect about you. Under certain circumstances, you also entitled to have your data corrected, locked or deleted. We delete data as soon as soon as it has served its purpose.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State in which you reside, your place of work or the place where the alleged infringement was committed, if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the DSGVO.
